1.Camaraderie in Internal Meetings.
The Annual Convention of AIFI are coincided with its Annual General Meetings for convenience and in order to nurture a spirit of comradeship between members across regions. As a part of this endeavor, spouses and children of members also join the function and interact with each other. Members with their families attend in large numbers to make the event a grand success.

The last Annual General Meeting cum Annual Convention was held at Taj Garden Retreat Varkala between 20- 23rd Sept. 2007.

Besides this, periodical regional meetings are held which are also attended by members from other regions, so that they are well informed regarding the happening in other regions also.


2. Visits of foreign business delegation and AIFI delegations abroad
Plant visits are organized for members of the Forging Associations abroad on a reciprocal basis. Recently delegation from Japan, France, Germany visited Forging Plants of our members. As a sequel delegations of AIFI members also visited forging plants in these countries in large numbers. Regional meetings were also organized to give an opportunity to other members (whose plants were not visited by the foreign delegates) to meet the visitors.

The Association would be continuing this activity on a ongoing basis so that a bond between the forging communities world wide and the Indian Forging Industry develops and strengthens.


3. Planning regarding ASIAFORGE 2008
During a meeting held in April 2005 at the time of the 18th IFC at Nagoya, Japan (among forging Associations of China, India, Korea, Taiwan, Chinese Taipei and Japan, it was agreed to establish ASIAFORGE with the aim of promoting the forging industry in the Asian region , enhancing cooperation and building up a network in Asia.

2nd Annual Meet
As per the decision taken at the 1st Annual Meet of ASIAFORGE at Osaka, Japan, the Presidentship of ASIAFORGE was entrusted to India and the AIFI for the two year term beginning April 2007.

Our Managing Committee decided to nominate Mr.Vidyashanker Krishnan (V.P. AIFI & Mg. Director, M.M.Forgings Ltd.,Chennai) as the President, ASIAFORGE for the two year period and Mr. Vikas Chowdhry , (Chairman Northern region & MD Logwell Forge Ltd, Gurgaon) , as Convener of ASIAFORGE. 2nd Annual Meet.

In terms of this decision taken by the Managing Committee in the first meeting, it was decided to host 2nd ASIAFORGE Annual Meet between 17-19 March 2008 at New Delhi in a befitting manner to ensure that the event is a grand success.

In order to plan and organize this event properly it was decided that the Mr. Vikas Chowdhry, Convener, ASIAFORGE would be assisted by a Core Group consisting of Mr. Subhash Khandelwal, President, Mr. Vidyashankar Krishan (VP, AIFI & President ASIAFORGE) , Mr. Asheet Pasricha, Chairman, then Finance & Admn. Comm., AIFI, Mr. Satish Garg, Mg. Committee member. The group has been taking all major decisions in regard to this mega event (including finance) as well as overseening the activities relating to this event which has been entrusted to M/S Sita Travels P. Ltd.

All round efforts and regular interaction between these office bearers and members at regional meetings have been made to ensure that this event turns out to be a grand success.

On its part the Secretariat has been involved in all the preparatory work including making announcements, drawing up the programmes for the event as well as planning and coordinating visits of foreign delegates to members’ plants, preparing skeleton / framework for the brochure to be printed for circulation to prospective delegates, coordinating with Forging Associations in member countries etc.
Due publicity has been given to this event through FOCUS and our Website also to ensure maximum participation and presentation of Technical papers.
About 500 participants (from India & abroad) are expected for this event.
