My dear fellow members,
I hope that all of you and your families are well and safe during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As I take over from Mr.S. Muralishankar as the president of AIFI for the period 2020-2022, I would like to thank him for his exemplary leadership and each one of you for unanimously electing me to AIFI President. I would like to congratulate Mr. S. Muralishankar for successfully hosting ASIAFORGE and the 2nd ForgeTech in January 2019 at Mahabalipuram.
The current times are uncertain and challenging. The domestic auto industry which was going through a slump in recent times has been negatively impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. The beginning of the current fiscal year started with a nationwide lockdown announced by our Honourable P.M. Shri Narendra Modi to stop the spread of corona virus. This resulted in huge losses for many businesses and as a result challenging times ahead.
As we move from the lockdown to the unlock phase, work has started to limp back to normalcy. On 12th May, to revive the economy the flagship program of the central government “Atmanirbhar Bharat” was initiated. The idea was not to cut off imports altogether but to retrospect, evolve and uplift the domestic industries and make the “Made in India” goods more popular. To help in the growth of economy another quote given by our Prime Minister was ’Vocal for Local’, which will help in creating more jobs, making our Indian products more competitive in global market, transform business processes & strengthen efficiency.
Unless we try and do something beyond what we have already mastered, we will never grow. The last few months have been tough but they have taught us to deal with unexpected situations in innovative ways, find solutions to problems we had never seen before.
With the assistance of our newly elected vice president Mr. Yash Munot and the guidance of all fellow members I truly believe that we will be able to meet all challenges faced by us in the forging industry and march into a bright future.
Looking forward to your best support during my tenure.
With best regards
Vikas Bajaj
